According to the WHO, India is the diabetes capital of the world with more than 20% of the world’s diabetes cases. At present, one in eight adult Indians suffers from diabetes, thanks to factors like sedentary lifestyle, poor eating habits and genetic pre-disposition. To compound this further, India also has a high prevalence of people with Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) or Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG), which are pre-diabetic conditions and can lead to diabetes in the future, if not managed early. Moreover, there is an increasing trend of onset of these conditions at younger ages in India.

Diabetes not only impacts the lifestyle, it also causes serious health complications which affects the kidneys, eyes and limbs among others. Some startling facts:

  • In India, one in three individuals with type 2 diabetes has evidence of retinopathy.
  • About 15% of all diabetic patients develop foot ulcers during their lifetimes.
  • About 20% of these ulcers are estimated to result in lower limb amputation.

Such complications can seriously impact your finances too. Moreover, most conventional medical insurance plans do not cover a diabetic for all such expenses.

At ICICI Prudential, We care. We are proud to present Diabetes Assure, a product created for Type II diabetics and pre-diabetics which exclusively covers kidney, eye and limb complications.
