A GIFT with many flexibilities

You pay premiums for a certain period of time (known as the premium payment term). After the completion of policy term, you will receive Guaranteed Income2 (GI) at the end of every month/year for a certain period (known as the Income Period). Please go through the details given below to know about the various flexibilities available to you.

1. Flexibility to choose Guaranteed Income option (Level Guaranteed Income7 or Increasing Guaranteed Income7)

ICICI Pru GIFT Pro gives you the option to select whether you want to receive guaranteed income2 that either

  • remains at the same level throughout the Income Period, or
  • increases every year

If you choose to receive an income that increases every year, your guaranteed income2 will increase every year at a simple interest rate of 5% per annum

Let us take an example to understand this flexibility available under ICICI Pru GIFT Pro:

Bhavesh is a 35-year-old who wants to receive second income that increases every year to meet his future goals.

He decides to pay an annual premium of ₹1 lakh for 10 years in ICICI Pru GIFT Pro and receive 100% MoneyBack Benefit in the last year of the Income Period and gets a life cover of minimum ₹ 10.70 lakh for 11 years.

Bhavesh is a 35-year-old who wants to create a second Level income for himself so that he can plan for his future goals.

He decides to pay an annual premium of ₹1 lakh for 10 years towards ICICI Pru GIFT Pro. He gets a life cover1 of minimum ₹ 10.70 lakh for 11 years. He also decides to receive 100% MoneyBack Benefit3 in the last year of the Income Period. He gets a life cover of minimum ₹10.70 lakh for 11 years.

Let’s say Bhavesh considers 200%, 150%, 100%, 80%, 50%, 30% or 0% as MoneyBack Benefit3 along with the last income

3. Flexibility to choose when you want to receive MoneyBack Benefit3

ICICI Pru GIFT Pro gives you the flexibility to choose any year, on or after the maturity date of the policy up to the last income year, to receive the MoneyBack Benefit3. The MoneyBack Benefit3 will be payable at the end of the year, as chosen by you.

Please also note: In case of death of the Life Assured during the Income Period, the Claimant continues to receive the Guaranteed Income2 and MoneyBack Benefit3 (if applicable and not paid earlier).

4. Flexibility to choose income on any date of your choice with Save the Date5

5. Flexibility to receive all future benefits as a lump sum benefit at a discounted value

For ease of access to the fund, you get the option to receive future benefits by converting them in the form of a lump sum at policy maturity or any time during the income period, at a discounted rate (if not already received). This flexibility is also available to the Claimant in case of unfortunate demise of the Life Assured during the Income Period.

6. Low Cover Income Booster4

At the inception of the policy, you can also choose to opt for “Low Cover Income Booster” wherein you will be able to enjoy increased income for opting a lower life cover.

Death Benefit

In the event the person whose life is covered by this policy (known as the Life Assured) passes away, during the term of the policy, the Death Benefit will be paid out as a lump sum to the person specified (known as the Claimant) in the policy.

Death Benefit is highest of:

  • a. Sum Assured on Death (defined as Death Benefit multiple X Annualised Premium8)
  • b. 105% of the Total premiums paid10 up to the date of death
  • c. Death Benefit Factor X Maturity Sum Assured9 X {number of months for which premiums are paid up to date of death / (12 X Premium Payment Term)}
  • d. Surrender value payable as on the date of death.

On payment of Death Benefit to the claimant, the policy will terminate and all rights, benefits and interests under the policy will stand extinguished.

1. Does ICICI Pru GIFT Pro offer completely guaranteed^ benefits?

Yes - all benefits offered under ICICI Pru GIFT Pro are completely guaranteed^. The guaranteed^ benefits are mentioned in the Key Feature Document, Benefit Illustration and the Policy Schedule.

2. What are the different income options available under ICICI Pru GIFT Pro?

ICICI Pru GIFT Pro provides you the flexibility of either selecting Level (Constant) Income or Increasing Income stream.

3. For how many years will I get income under the Increasing/Level Income option?

You can choose to receive income for a period of 5/7/10/12/15/20/25/30. This is known as Guaranteed^ Income period for both Increasing and level income options.

4. Can I take Guaranteed^ Income under Level/Increasing Income option in half-yearly or monthly frequency?

You can take Guaranteed^ Income only in monthly or annual frequency. There is no option to take it half-yearly.

5. What is MoneyBack Benefit and MoneyBack Benefit %?

You can choose to receive any percentage from 0% to 200% of the sum total of all annualized premiums payable by you as a one time lump sum benefit (known as MoneyBack Benefit). You will need to select the percentage of MoneyBack at inception. Example: If sum total of all annualized premiums payable is Rs. 10 Lacs and you have selected a MoneyBack Benefit of 50%, your MoneyBack Benefit amount will be Rs. 5 Lacs (Rs. 10 Lacs x 50%).

6. When will I receive MoneyBack Benefit?

You have the flexibility to choose any year, on or after the maturity date of the policy up to the last income year, to receive the MoneyBack Benefit. Example: If you have opted to receive MoneyBack Benefit in 6th income year, you will receive MoneyBack Benefit at the end of 6th income year.

7. Can I change MoneyBack Benefit % and year after purchasing the policy ?

No. MoneyBack Benefit % and year has to chosen at the inception of the policy. This cannot be changed later.

8. What is Low Cover Income Booster?

Low Cover Income Booster is a flexibility that provides you an option to opt for a lower Life Insurance Cover and enjoy additional (higher) Guaranteed^ Income.

9. What happens in case of death of the Life Assured during the Policy Term?

In case of death of the Life Assured during the Policy Term, the death benefit will be paid to the Claimant and the policy shall terminate.

10. What happens in case of death of the Life Assured between the period of completion of policy term & start of the income term?

Nominee will continue to receive Guaranteed^ income for the entire income period, in case of death of the Life Assured after the Policy Term.

11. Is Life Insurance Benefit applicable during the Income Period? What happens in case of death of the Life Assured during the Income period?

Since Income period in not included in the policy term, Life Insurance Benefit will not be applicable during the income period. Nominee will continue to receive guaranteed^ income for the entire income period, in case of death of the Life Assured during income period.

12. What is 'Save the Date' feature?

You have an option to receive GI every year on a Special Date of your choice preceding the due date of first GI pay-out during the Income Period. The Special date can be chosen to coincide with any date such as, Date of Maturity, birth date or anniversary date etc. Payment of GI will commence from this Special Date and all further GIs will be paid every year on this Special Date chosen. You can select the Special Date at policy inception or any time before two months of the completion of the policy term.

13. In case the policy is taken on the life of a minor life assured (age less than 18 years), what will happen on him/her turning age 18 years (attaining majority)?

In case of a policy taken on a minor life assured, once the life assured turns major (i.e. age 18 years), the ownership of the policy transfers to the life assured. He/She then becomes the proposer of the policy and is liable to pay future premiums, if any and will also be entitled to the benefits payable under the policy.

Below is the exclusion under the product:

Suicide:

In case of death due to suicide within 12 months from the date of commencement of risk under the policy or from the date of revival of the policy, as applicable, the Claimant shall be entitled to 80% of the total premiums paid till the date of death or the surrender value available as on the date of death whichever is higher, provided the policy is in force. The Policy will terminate on making such a payment and all rights, benefits and interests under the Policy will stand extinguished. For more information, refer to Part F, Clause 11 of policy document.

For processing a death claim under this Policy, We will require the following documents (as may be relevant):

  • Duly filled and signed Claimant Statement Form
  • Copy of Death Certificate of the Life Assured, issued by government authority
  • Claimant address proof
  • Claimant photo identity proof
  • Recent photograph of the claimant
  • Pan card / Form 97 of the claimant
  • Duly filled and signed Payout mandate form with bank account details of the claimant
  • Copy of cancelled cheque / bank statement / bank passbook with printed account number and name of the claimant

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BASED ON CAUSE OF DEATH

A. In case of death due to Unnatural causes such as Accidents (Road / Rail / Air etc), Murder, Suicide, etc.

  • Medico-legal cause of death certificate
  • First Information Report (FIR) from the police authority
  • Inquest/ Panchnama Report
  • Final police investigation report
  • Post Mortem Report (PMR) issued by the hospital
  • Viscera / Chemical examination report
  • Newspaper Cutting, if any
  • Driving License (of the Life Assured driving the vehicle in case of death due to a road accident)
  • Hospitalization / treatment records if any
  • Duly filled in Medical/ Hospital Attendant Certificate
  • Duly filled in Employer Certificate (only if Life Assured was a salaried individual)

B. In Case of death due to Natural or medical causes (death at home, hospital)

  • Medico-legal / Medical cause of death certificate
  • Past medical records and treatment papers
  • All hospitalization records of the Life Assured such as:
    • Admission form
    • Indoor Case Papers (ICPs)
    • Discharge summary
    • Diagnostic test reports such as USG, Pathology / Lab reports etc.,
  • Duly filled in Treating Doctor Certificate
  • Duly filled in Medical/ Hospital Attendant Certificate

For processing a survival benefit, maturity claim under this Policy, We will require the following documents from the Claimant:

a) Cancelled Cheque for processing electronic payment

b) KYC of Proposer of the policy

c) Settlement option form, if opted

Claim payments are made only in Indian currency in accordance with the prevailing Exchange control regulations and other relevant laws and regulations in India. In case the Claimant is unable to provide any or all of the above documents, in exceptional circumstances such as a natural calamity, the Company may at its own discretion conduct an investigation and may subsequently settle the claim.

7 Level Income and Increasing Income are income options available under GIFT Pro. Under Level Income, the Guaranteed Income will remain constant throughout the income period. If Increasing Income is selected, the Guaranteed Income will increase at a simple interest rate of 5% p.a.

8 Annualized Premium means the premium amount payable in a year chosen by the policyholder, excluding the taxes, rider premiums, underwriting extra premiums and loadings for modal premiums, if any

9 Maturity Sum Assured is the discounted value of future GIs and MoneyBack Benefit (if applicable) computed at discount rate of 9.00% p.a. at the end of the policy term

10 Total Premiums Paid means the total of all premiums received, excluding any extra premium, any rider premium and taxes
