Maturity & Death Benefit

 

 

Maturity Benefit:-

i. Under both the Plan Options, on survival of the Life Assured till the Date of Maturity, we will pay the Fund Value to you, provided the Policy has not already been terminated

ii. On payment of Maturity Benefit to the Claimant, the Policy will terminate and all rights, benefits and interests under the Policy will be extinguished

Death Benefit:-

i. On the death of the Life Assured during the Policy Term provided the Policy is in-force and the monies are not in the Discontinued Policy Fund Death Benefit will be payable to the Claimant

ii. Death Benefit payable will depend upon the plan option chosen by the Policyholder and as mentioned in the policy schedule. Under Growth Plus plan option, Death Benefit payable will be the highest of:

  • Assured, including Top-Up Sum Assured, if any
  • Fund Value, as available on date of intimation of death or Date of Foreclosure or / Date of Maturity whichever is earlier
  • Minimum Death Benefit. Under Protect Plus plan option, Death Benefit payable will be the highest of:
    • Assured including Top-Up Sum Assured, if any + Fund Value, if any, as available on date of intimation of death or Date of Foreclosure or / Date of Maturity whichever is earlier
    • Minimum Death Benefit.

iii. On death of the Life Assured, while monies are in the Discontinued Policy Fund, Death Benefit payable to the Claimant will be the proceeds of the Discontinued Policy Fund applicable to your Policy.

iv. In the event of death of the Life Assured on the Date of Maturity, only the Maturity Benefit (if applicable) is payable and the death benefit shall not be payable

v. On payment of Death Benefit, the Policy will terminate and all rights, benefits and interests under the Policy will be extinguished

If the Life Assured, whether sane or insane, commits suicide for any reason whatsoever within 12 months from the date of commencement of the Policy or from the date of revival of the Policy, as applicable, the Policy will terminate and only the Fund Value as available on the date of intimation of death or Date of Foreclosure or/ Date of Maturity whichever is earlier, will be payable to the Claimant.

Any charges other than Fund Management Charges and guarantee charges, if any, recovered subsequent to the date of death shall be added back to the fund value as available on the date of intimation of death or Date of Foreclosure or/ Date of Maturity whichever is earlier.

The Policy will terminate on the said payment and all rights, benefits and interests will stand extinguished.

If the Life Assured, whether sane or insane, commits suicide within 12 months from the effective date of any Top-up, then the corresponding Top-up Sum Assured shall not be considered in the calculation of the Death Benefit.

For processing a claim under this Policy, we will require the following documents (as may be relevant):

  • Duly filled and signed Claimant Statement Form
  • Copy of Death Certificate of the Life Assured, issued by government authority
  • Claimant address proof*
  • Claimant photo identity proof*
  • Recent photograph of the claimant
  • Pan card / Form 97 of the claimant
  • Duly filled and signed Payout mandate form with bank account details of the claimant • Copy of cancelled cheque / bank statement / bank passbook with printed account number and name of the claimant

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BASED ON CAUSE OF DEATH

A. In case of death due to Unnatural causes such as Accidents (Road / Rail / Air etc), Murder, Suicide, etc.

  • Medico-legal cause of death certificate
  • First Information Report (FIR) from the police authority
  • Inquest/ Panchnama Report
  • Final police investigation report
  • Post Mortem Report (PMR) issued by the hospital
  • Viscera / Chemical examination report
  • Newspaper Cutting, if any
  • Driving License (of the Life Assured driving the vehicle in case of death due to a road accident)
  • Hospitalization / treatment records if any
  • Duly filled in Medical/ Hospital Attendant Certificate
  • Duly filled in Employer Certificate (only if Life Assured was a salaried individual).

B. In Case of death due to Natural or medical causes (death at home, hospital)

  • Medico-legal / Medical cause of death certificate
  • Past medical records and treatment papers
  • All hospitalization records of the Life Assured such as:
    • Admission form
    • Indoor Case Papers (ICPs)
    • Discharge summary iv. Diagnostic test reports such as USG, Pathology / Lab reports etc.
  • Duly filled in Treating Doctor Certificate Duly filled in Medical/ Hospital Attendant Certificate

For processing a Settlement/maturity claim under this Policy, we will require the following documents from the Claimant:

  • Cancelled Cheque of the Claimant for processing electronic payment
  • KYC of Proposer of the Policy Settlement option form, if opted Claim payments are made only in Indian currency in accordance with the prevailing Exchange control regulations and other relevant laws and regulations in India

In case the Claimant is unable to provide any or all of the above documents, in exceptional circumstances such as a natural calamity, the Company may at its own discretion conduct an investigation and may subsequently settle the claim.

Why should you buy a ULIP at an early age?

When you are young, you are free from liabilities in terms of dependents and hence, you have the potential to take higher risk to get better returns. The earlier you start investing in a ULIP, the sooner you can achieve your financial goals.

What is the minimum and maximum entry age for this plan?

There is no minimum age for buying this plan.

In the Growth Plus option, the maximum entry age depends upon PPT chosen, 5 & 6 pay options allow 50 as maximum entry age while rest PPT options allow entry age till 60.

In the Protect Plus option, the maximum entry age is 55 years.

What is the minimum and maximum policy term I can select?

Policy term, in the Growth Plus option for 5 Premium Payment Terms is 70 minus age at entry and for 6-30 Premium Payment Terms is 75 minus age at entry.

In the Protect Plus option, depending upon age it is 65 – Age at entry / 60 – Age at entry.

What are the premium payment modes for this plan?

The premium payment modes available with this plan are Yearly, Half-Yearly and Monthly.

What are the premium payment terms available with this plan?

Premium Payment Terms:

  • For Growth Plus option, for limited pay 5-30 years is available, single pay is also available
  • For Protect Plus option, limited pay 5 – 30 years is available

What is the minimum and maximum premium for this plan?

Minimum premium for Growth Plus variant is ₹60,000 for yearly mode and ₹72,000 for other than yearly modes and maximum is unlimited (subject to board approved underwriting policy) while for Single Pay minimum premium is ₹2,50,000 and maximum is unlimited (subject to board approved underwriting policy). For the Protect Plus plan, minimum premium is ₹60,000, and maximum is unlimited (subject to board approved underwriting policy).

What is Systematic Withdrawal Plan(SWP)?

SWP allows you to withdraw a pre-determined percentage of your fund value regularly. This can help you to meet specific needs such as child’s education or money for day-to-day expenses during retirement.

When can I do partial withdrawals?

Partial withdrawals are allowed only after the first five policy years and on payment of all premiums for the first five policy years.

What is the age eligibility to do partial withdrawals?

Partial withdrawals are allowed only if the Life Assured is at least 18 years of age.

What are the tax benefits under this policy?

You can avail tax benefits on the premiums you pay towards this plan and the benefit you receive subject to conditions under Section 123 (read with Schedule XV, Sr. No. 1, 2 & 4), Section 11 (read with Schedule II, Sr. No. 2) & other provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025.

5 The Policyholder can have funds in only one of the Portfolio Strategies

6 Systematic Withdrawal Plan is allowed only after the first five policy years

7 Top-up premiums can be paid any time except during the last five years of the policy term, subject to underwriting, as long as all due premiums have been paid. A lock-in period of five years would apply for each Top-up premium for the purpose of partial withdrawals only.
